“I enjoy working with patients of all ages and love seeing the positive changes a beautiful smile can make.”
Dr. Thao Nguyen Vu is dedicated to treating patients with the highest standard of care and providing focused, unhurried care they deserve. She loves helping children and adults achieve beautiful smiles that can improve their self-confidence and open doors professionally and socially.
Dr. Vu knew she wanted to be an orthodontist from an early age because she had braces herself as an adolescent and experienced what a difference a beautiful smile can make on one’s self-esteem. With her newfound confidence, she was able to take on leadership roles throughout high school, college, and dental school. It was through this positive experience as an orthodontic patient that she knew she would enjoy orthodontics as a profession.
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Thao Nguyen Vu was raised in Garden Grove, California, where she attended K-12 and earned the title of valedictorian of her high school. She went on to attend University of California, Irvine on a Regent’s scholarship and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in business management.
After college, she was accepted into the prestigious dental program at University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. In order to become a specialist in orthodontics, Dr. Vu then attended the graduate orthodontics program at University of Southern California, where she received her certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science degree in craniofacial biology. She was awarded with the Harry L. Dougherty Award for Clinical Excellence upon graduation.
Soon after graduating, she then voluntarily took a rigorous set of written examinations (she scored in the top 5% of examinees nationwide) and clinical examinations, as well as a comprehensive review of credentials, to become board-certified.

Growing up in southern California, she enjoys spending her time outside in the sun, from swimming and playing tennis to snowboarding and hiking. In addition, Dr. Vu enjoys traveling, eating, and spending time with her family and friends.
